England U21 v Czech Republic U21 Betting Preview

We cast our eye over tonight’s U21 encounter, before we get our teeth stuck into England’s ‘friendly’ trip to Berlin tomorrow.

Stuart Pearce has made some radical changes to his U21 side, for a friendly fixture against the Czech Republic at Bramall Lane. England have already secured their place in the Finals thanks to a win over Wales, but only 2 of the starting XI from that fixture are in the squad. Yet England are as short as 1/2 to prevail, far too short for me.

The Czech Republic are a decent side, and only just missed out on a play-off position. Their lineup looks inexperienced tonight, as their squad features 7 players who took part in last summer’s U19 championship. The away side are best=priced with Sky Bet at 11/2, or you could have them at 7/2 in the ‘Draw No Bet’ market. For a side that beat Ukraine 2-0 away from home, it would appear that they’ve been overlooked in the betting.

England have called up rookies such as Klye Naughton and Fabian Delph, whilst Frank Fieling has also made the squad. Punters interested in the first goalscorer market are likely to latch on to Sylvain Ebanks-Blake, who has scored 10 goals in 16 games for Wolves. Bet365 offer 11/2, or 7/4 that he scores at any time.

Still I can’t help but think that the away side are over-priced, so I may even lay England on the exchanges - hardly patriotic!

Recommendation:

1pt 3/1 Draw

2pts 7/2 Czech Republic (Draw No Bet)

LONG TERM BETS:

6pts 4/6 Barack Obama U.S. President - WON. P.S. See Barack Obama Specials.

10pts 1/1 Aidan O’Brien not to get 26 or more Group One wins this year - WON

STILL IN PLAY:

5pts 5/2 Man City to win the Premier League without the Big 4 - now 5/1. City have been very poor away from home.

5pts 8/11 Valencia to win Group G - Only played once (1-1) and have been eased out to 5/4. Still confident.

1pt ew 14/1 Proportional in Epsom Oaks - No Change.

2pts 8/1 Martina Navratilova (I’m a Celebrity…) -Well supported and now best priced at 13/2

2pts 7/1 JLS in the X Factor - The favourite has weakened meaning JLS are now 9/2

ADVISED:

4/7 Lyon to win Ligue 1 ‘could be terrific value’ - now pulling ahead currently 1/4

‘I’ll back Sochaux to be relegated at 2/1 with bwin’ - 19th without an away win and now 11/10 with the same firm
