X Factor Betting

The X Factor offers some sensational betting opportunities, and is surprisingly entertaining. This weekend Laura White was axed at a whopping 100/1. The bookies had her as second favourite to Diana Vickers, who is now just 11/10 to win the competition.

Saturday’s circumstances were contreversial, as the favourite was automatically put through into the next round due to a ‘sore throat’.  Contestants had to perform Maria Carey songs, and the star of the show was Alexandra Burke, who has been cut from 9/2 into 10/3.

JLS have been described as the best band the show has ever seen, and have been cut once more into 7/1. The boy band from London do offer some each way value, and also a decent trading opportunity on Betfair over the next two weeks or so.

The rank outsider, Daniel Evans has been stubborn in the betting, but remains a 66/1 shot. How he is still in the competition is a mystery, and is 5/6 to get the boot next weekend. Judges Simon and Louis both want him out, despite a radio campaign to vote for Daniel. The lesson from this week is not to take anything for granted, whether its the X Factor or a by-election in Fife.

As well as the Winner market, there is also the winning manager market. Cheryl Cole is mentoring the girls, and it isn’t surprising that she is 4/11. At that price I’d rather be a layer. The top over 25 year old contestant is a tight market, and looks like a match up between 11/8 Ruth Lorenzo and 6/4 Rachel Hylton.

We’ll back JLS to have a financial interest, although you may well see us green out of the market on Betfair. Surely it is only a matter of time before Diana goes odds-on.

Recommendation:

2pts 7/1 JLS Outright Winners
